I notice that UNESCO has wrong co-ordinates for Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Formerly Victoria Terminus) in Mumbai, India.
The correct location is

Lattitude: 18 deg 56 Minutes 24.44 Seconds N
Longitude: 72 deg 50 Minutes 10.33 Seconds E

The co-ordinates given by UNESCO are actually the co-ordinates of Gateway of India.
How do I make this correction? When I tried to mail UNESCO at wh.support@unesco.org, the mail bounced.

I would like to point out that UNESCO data if plotted on Google earth is absolutely in correct. How do I say this?

First of all I was born and brought up in city of Mumbai. I know that city like back of my palm.

Significant landmark places like Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus is labelled to The Famous Gateway of India. This is disgusting to see. At the same time the legendary Elephanta caves and the island that they are situated on are wrongly labelled to an island which is used for docking large oil ships.

I sincerly urge to friends not to automize the process of publishing placemarkers unless you are very sure of. Simply importing/exporting data from other sites is demonstration of your marvelouse intelligence but it also offends people from the region seeing absolute rubbish labeling of their own town.

Someone please take some corrective action to minimise the chaos that could be created. Patience please. We know you are very intelligent and smart and we don't doubt that. Please do not demonstrate such intelligence when not required.

Sincely not wanting to upset anyone and thanking you for being understanding. Have fun.

WIth regards,
FunkyGuru

If you want to do the job of entering or verifiying and editing more than 2000 indivdual placemarks manually, you are most welcome!

This work is not copyrighted by me! If you want, take the downloaded placemark file, correct it and post it here in the forum.

But be aware, that if UNESCO changes their data and this placemark file will be re-generated and you have to start all over again...

Have Fun!

Whoa! Did I do something wrong? My first posting on the BBS and already I have people pratically screaming at me. Even people who agree with my pointing ot the error seem to be upset about something! Herrminator says I shouldn't be making corrections. All I wanted to do was to point out the error to UNESCO. Will someone tell me A) What did I do wrong B) How do I get the errors corrected

Nobody's screaming. I just wanted to tell you that the correct email address is probably wh-support@unesco.org not wh.support @ unesco.org. And, yes, UNESCO is the right right place to ask for corrections.
