Hi Herrminator,

Thanks a lot for your great work.
I'm completly agree with Eusebio. What a great post!

Reading the complete thread (even the original post from Aladin) i can understand many things about how is the world going on... people discussing about their particular trees without seen the forest.

Thanks again!

Back from holidays, I imported the latest UNESCO data, which includes several corrections.

So, please re-download the english version here, ou la version franaise ici.

Enjoy!

P.S.: It's official: UNESCO now created their own GoogleEarth set! It is available here: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/kml/ (in french: http://whc.unesco.org/fr/list/kml/ ). It is nicely done, and, of course, first hand data! You'll find some similarities, I think . What's missing, are the sub-sites of properties with multiple locations. So I think, I'll still continue my work for a while - you decide which version you like !

I just found an error in the scripts where the french version wasn't parsed correctly due to character set conversion issues. As a result, cultural and natural properties weren't marked properly in the latest version.

So, if you're using the french version, please re-download the new version franaise ici .

Enjoy!

Hi,

Here is the UNESCO World Heritage Centre's official KML file in French.

The World Heritage Centre is now listing 812 cultural and natural sites and growing every year.

If you think that some places are not well located, please be kind enough to send an email to <wh-support@unesco.org>.

I didn't check back for a few days and just noticed that the english version of the list is now on the 'Community Showcase' layer. This is great news and I have to thank UNESCO again for making the list available!

But this also means that, on the 'Google Earth Community' layer, only the french version is still visible.

I'm writing this, because I got already several complaints by non-french speaking people living in mixed-language countries. And, because I'm afraid that those people who do not switch on the 'Showcase' layers, will start posting duplicates of their favourite World Heritage Sites.

I will try to find a solution by putting cross-language links on the descriptions, but the excerpt posted on the community layers is very limited and I don't know yet how to specifically put a link there.

Until then, just choose between the english or french version here on the forum by clicking the 'more ' link on the descriptions.

Enjoy!

Masada fortress is much further up north. go there:

latidude: 3127'27.61" N
longitude: 3523' 4.93" E

there is a solid placemark already set.

greetings

hey,
while surfing google earth today, i got to find this placemark which is very wrongly named, the place where this placemark is being posted, is generally known as LAHORE FORT, which is adjacent to famous BADSHAHI MOSQUE (mosque of the kings) , the placemark is named wrogly, its not the famous SHALIMAR GARDENS and also lahore fort is not even close to famous shalimar gardens, plz try to rectify this bier mistake.

shaimar gardens can be viewd easily., its located on the famous Grand trunk road.

regards
