Some very large antennas made up the (now) defunct Omega radio navigation system . There were 8 Omega stations around the world. This was a system used prior to GPS and other satellite navigation systems. Some of the antennas still exist and may even be used for other purposes.
The Omega station in Argentina is the most interesting from a Google Earth pictorial standpoint.
