Haven't seen anyone do anything with RSS News yet, so I've set up a BBC World News RSS feed to Google Earth. URL is:

http://www.daden.co.uk/newsglobe/newsglobe.kmz

(note new URL - put the http in there now!)

To add your own feeds just create a Network Link to:

http://www.daden.co.uk/cgi-bin/newsbot/newsglobe.pl?url=

and append the URL of the feed you want.

You can of course add multiple links to get a number of feeds displayed.

Added major world, Canada and US cities, and UK towns to the geocoding.

Added a folder with all of the main BBC news feeds.

I'll see if I can do a generic solution, either by URL or by the feed index I keep for my talking newsbots.

I've made the code more generic o you can now use the Add Network Link option to add in your own feeds. Just replace the feed URL below with the feed you want. Should work with RSS, RDF and ATOM.

this is spectacular! although i had to paste the .kmz link into the browser to get the download to work.

suggestion - how about a BBC logo for the icon?

Did think about the BBC logo, but before I got around to doing it I opened up the feed to other RSS feeds. I probbaly will do something with the icons in due course.

I cant get it to work with the Drudge report news feed, can someone help?

Btw David, how do you figure out where the countries are? Did you sit down and map it out all on your own?
