Hello folks,

I think I have just the same problem as in this thread:

http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/158137/an//page//vc/1

but clearing the cache does not solve my problem.

The resolution of these coordinates 2650'44.60"N 3359'25.44"E on my office computer is very high, but at home I cannot even recognize the Robinson Club in Egypt, please look at this picture

My system is:

AMD 1800+
512 MB RAM
Win XP pro, SP2
Radeon 9600 128MB with the newest driver 8.263.0.0
same GE version as in office
DSL 2Mb

and that are my settings

Hope someone can help me.

Luke

Hi

Please, exit GE and remove the files

dbCache.dat
and
dbCache.dat.index

in

C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Google\GoogleEarth
and/or
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\GoogleEarth

manually.

Tell us what happens.

Damn, it did not work.

As I started GE again and zoomed into for about 600meters, GE was transfering and transfering and transfering up to 100%, but the resolution did not get better

Hi, I noticed you are running DirectX8 you need to update to DirectX9c

You can get it HERE

It's strange. I thought I had installed DX90c as I reinstalled WIN XP last weeks. I have to look at it, BUT...

Before I tried DirectX I used OpenGL at home, the same renderer as in office. I will post the office screenshots later, cause I do not have a FTP-progam installed here.

Yeah, got it...

In an other (german) GE forum, someone told me to activate "safety mode" (? do not know if it called so in english). It works...!

But I do not understand another thing, why GE shows DirectX 8, whether DX9.0c is installed?

Hi
GE shows it just for information.
You'd better install DirectX9c. Wouldnt be good to rely on safety mode. You may have future problems.

But GE shows a false information then, as you can see in the picture DX9c IS installed, not DX8.

Safety mode is the best mode for my GE at this moment. In future perhaps there will not be this problem any more, then I can deactivate the safety mode. But for now...

I am confused. That's strange. Your GE doesnt know the DX9 installed. You may have a problem there. Try also other applications, like games that need it if you have any. I wonder what will happen.

If you want to fix your view set textures to max size set anisotropic filtering to high,(Tools > Options) make sure your desktop is set to 32 bit..
It's as good as it gets unless you use Open GL
