Wow a super post!

My 11 year old with love this a lot more than her geography books!

I would sometimes just like to see the white boundary and not the fill.
Is there a way to easily turn fill off or do I have to edit the kml file.

many thanks

Thanks mcshea

brilliant application of GE for students and teachers. I can't wait to share it with others at my school.

BTW, I'm new to this community. Looking through all the posts, I accidently came across a newer release of the "world Countries as polygons" which I played with. How would I have discovered this new release without looking through all of the posts?

Once again,

Thanks,

papajo

jmpaq,

Thanks for the compliments. This was a combined effort of many different posts and posters. You would need to edit the kml or each individual country to get rid of the fill. The boundaries are almost the same as they are in GEarth's "Borders" Layer. In fact the ones in GEarth have many more data points and are more acurate.

papajo,

Here are some other posts with good information. I did a search for "countries" in the forum search. Hope this helps.

Flags of the World by zmarties

World Capitals by notanotheridiot

CIA World Factbook by ink_polaroid

Nice...But!

If you are going to have Taiwan a different color than mainland China you should at least make it different than the color of Japan.

also...I did not know Kashmir is Indian...(most maps I have seen make it white...)

Hello labadie3. Welcome to our Community.

The arguments you tell are political ones and the truth depend on which country you live. We here respect the political ideas of each country's citizens.

Here is a file that displays all the countries of the world as different colors. It also has some basic information included in the description tag.

This will display, among other things, the Flag and a link to the CIA World Factbook for that country. I am looking for suggestions to make this better. Feel free to coment. I will be out of twon for a week, but I look forward to reading any responses when I get back.

p.s. There are a few bugs that I still have to work out; most of which are listed in the "Known Problems" Placemark.

I have just "Caught up" with this thread...

New Zealand is not part of Australia.. Nor is Australia part of New Zealand.. We are good neighbours though.. In your next update can you move New Zealand and Australia into your Pacific folder.. That should make us Kiwis and the Aussies happy .

Well, good work for me, too. I'll use it in my works (and am using now for a news) with a reference to you. Thanks.

Whereas, I did not understand your point. I did many maps in my life and it is a rule that if you color a country or city with, say, red, then all its territories should be red. It is nothing to do with the polygon discussions. Whatever the application behaves, the drawer must overcome the difficulty and obey the rules.

It's a great compilation - thank you.

One suggestion I would make (it may have been made before - I haven't read all the replies!), is that you set the default state for all the sub-folders to OFF (not ticked - load only, do not display!), in your data file. I use a simple network link (attached here), to load your data file so as to ensure I have the latest version, and its does take a lot of computer resources to load and display all countries.

Alternatively, is there a way I can change my network link so that it loads all data but does not display it ?

Thank you.
