On 11 August 2006, the tanker MT Solar 1, which was carrying two-million liters of bunker fuel, sank off the southern coast of the island Guimaras while battling rough waters. Several hours later, long stretches of white-sand beaches, remarkable dive spots and rich fishing grounds became despicable sights with black, thick oil covering them.
Unfortunatly the map data covering the area is verly low in resolution. It would be very helpful for hazard assessment and spacial analysis if Google Earth could provide high resolution and current data of the region. Hopefully the oil spill and the contaminated areas would be recognizeable with new data so we have a view from above on the situation.
Don't know if this would be possible to implement asap. But it could help us delivering first aid. Please help!
