Does anyone know what this is? It seems to be a an area comprised entirely of large geometric squares and rectangles in what I would assume to be the lowlands of Phillip Island. I thought they might be fields, but it seems weird to have fields in that shape, and on an island with no other visible structures. There appear to be 4 large unconnected areas containing these shapes, with a few more smaller ones scattered about on the Western side of the island.

The biggest concentrated area of these shapes is at
29* 07'34.38"S and 167* 56' 57.04"E.

This is a relatively uncommon phenomenon of apparent underwater structures which has been added to THIS POSTING

A good find - keep hunting.

Hi.

It could be a compression glitch. The areas you point out are all in shadow and, depending on their contrast with the surrounding landandwaterscape, would have presented to the compression module as largish areas of nearly black. We may be looking at the results of trying to compress this. If this is the case, then occasional glitches such as this are not unexpected.
