Hey there...

At www.googleearthhacks.com i've found a weird one...

The placemark takes you to the Emu Down Wind Park, located in Western Australia.
I know there are videos (fake or not) and photos which show triangle shaped UFO's. Since i can't find a explanation on the Web, doe anyone know what it is???
A windpark building, a fence or does ET really comes down and get a Fosters?
Weird.....

Looks to me like an aerial erected on a triangle of cleared ground. See the 47meter long thin shadow extending from the middle of the triangle towards the south west?

There's a whole world to see, but there are some things you can do to see it better.

If a place is well known or famous for some reason, there is always a good chance that another member has posted it before. There are two main ways to help you to see what others have placemarked and posted.

First, it is always a good idea to check the Google Earth Community Forum layer, which is where
previous placemarks are identified (it is updated every few months, so a placemark you post today will be in there soon). To activate the layer, just check the box.

The second is to use the SEARCH page. This method will detect posts too new to to have been included in the layers.

To add new information about a feature which has already been placemarked, make a reply to the placemark and post already in place. You can access the original post by left-clicking on it and then left-clicking on the link.

If you discover that you have mistakenly added a duplicate placemark, It is good GEC etiquette to remove it by editing your post and choosing the "DELETE" option.

Hello

It looks to me like a radio-tower/antenna -site like this one in Poland or this one in USA . In these locations you can see that the groundwork baseplates for tension the steel cables are arranged in an angle of 120 degrees. The white spots in your triangle could be the same baseplates for anchoring the steel cables.

Hello

Today I found this:

The following article was published by The Sydney Morning Herald.
February 15, 2007

Secret new US spy base to get green light

AUSTRALIA'S close military alliance with the United States is to be further entrenched with the building of a high-tech communications base in Western Australia. The Federal Government is about to approve the base after three years of secret negotiations with Washington.

The Age has been told the base, which will be built on defence land at Geraldton, will provide a crucial link for a new network of military satellites that will help the US's ability to fight wars in the Middle East and Asia. It will be the first big US military installation to be built in Australia in decades, and follows controversies over other big bases such as Pine Gap and North West Cape.

The deal has come to light amid heightened political debate over the alliance with the US and in the same week that the US finally told Australia it would not allow it to buy its best fighter aircraft, the F-22 Raptor.

The base, about 370 kilometres north of Perth, will control two of five geostationary satellites - those with the highest priority parked over the Indian Ocean to monitor the unstable Middle East. Building may start within months.

A visiting fellow at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Philip Dorling, said that once the base was operating it would be almost impossible for Australia to be fully neutral or stand back from any war in which the US was involved.

The network will provide frontline military units instantly with high quality intelligence information, graphics and maps. All this information will be carried in unbreakable codes.

The Defence Minister, Brendan Nelson, confirmed that talks were continuing with the US Defence Department which wanted to build a ground station for its Mobile User Objective System. More ground stations might be built at other locations in Australia, he said.

Dr Dorling said the base would have direct military significance and would be a military target, similar to the submarine communications base at North West Cape and the joint facility at Pine Gap with its missile early warning system.

Hello everyone!

I am a bit late with this triangular object found on Google Earth map. Anyway, I decided to find out just a little bit more about it and have made a Google Earth video. Go and see it. If anyone has any update on this object, please post your comments.

Cheers,
Kangoo

I think it is somthing drawn on the ground, because the UFO got marks just like the ground around it.

Hi there.
Felippo, with all due respect, i believe you've made a mistake. You need to check your facts a little, including the major disagreement in distance between the article and google maps' ruler.

My reasoning is as followed.
1) There is no access road, no security, no sign of a military base or installation whatsoever.
2) Using the ruler, it measures only about 160 km north. Which, unless the Aust Army made a big mistake, its nowhere near the 360km stated in the article above.
3) This also happens to be directly near a major flighpath into Perth from Broome and Darwin. Can anyone confirm this? I believe we are looking at a simple, non-military transmitter.
4) If you read the article, you'll see that the base was announced in february 2007. Even the US military isnt that fast. There is no way it could be underway, let alone completed by now.
5) A google search turns up information that it's to be constructed near Geraldton. Geraldton is a long, long way from Emu Flat.

Hello Mazaru

Yes, I have made a mistake, but not in this thread. In my first post in this thread you can read what I really think about this site. In my second post here I just wanted to show what I found in the web, without a statement of mine! I just wanted to refer the information I found without checking for accuracy.

My mistake was to claim this:

"This object has already been identifyed here, it is a US military installation to control two of five geostationary satellites", in this post.

And I say sorry for this. I shoud have checked the article before claiming that it is a military installation. Now, I can say that your argument No.2 and No.5 are very strong arguments that speak against the military installation from the article above.

Greetings Felippo
