You can click the box off so no red line shows and still run the tour.

Location of the 2005 FORMULA 1 Fuji Television Japanese Grand Prix

This flyover consists of placemarks at each turn with annotations. Clicking on the "Play" button once it has loaded takes you on a simulated low level flyover through each turn.

Be sure to have the Terrain box checked so you can see the elevation changes on the course.

Enjoy

Ben_B, brilliant idea!
My contribution is a flyover from Calgary to Vancouver along the Trans-Canada Highway through the Rocky Mountains. Don't forget to turn-on the "Roads" so that you can follow TC-HWY1. Also, as with all these flyovers, I highly recommend that you go grab some munchies while the computer runs the flyover once. On the second flyover, much of the data will already be cached in your machine, providing a dramatically superior show! Enjoy.

I just added a flyover of the Copper Canyon in Chihuahua, Mexico.

I hope you like it!

Well you just had to make me search for it, instead of leaving it attached here, didn't you

I found where you attached it in your other post , but it was just a placemark and not file of several placemarks that we can play to view a virtual flyover.

You need to create a folder in My Places and move all the placemarks for your flyover in that folder. Then save that folder to your hard drive by right-clicking on it, and select "Save As". When you post it, browse to the kmz file you just created on your hard drive, and select it.

Hope that is of some help.

If you doesn't, it might help you to understand it a little better if you download one of the other flyovers here and open it up. You will notice that it will load a kmz file in your Temporary Places folder in your Places list. Click on the black triangle to the left of the kmz file and it will drop down to a folder. Click on the black triangle next to the folder and it will reveal the contents of the folder. The contents should be a series of placemarks.

Now to play the flyover, first ensure that no other placemarks, folders etc. in you Places list is checked. Then checked the box next to the folder that contains the flyover. This will also automatically check all of the boxes next to the placemarks in the folder. Now select the folder and click on the Play button at the bottom of your Places list. Your viewer should take you automatically to each placemark in the folder.

Tip: when creating a flyover, you will have more stunning results when you chose an area that has hi-res imagery.

Have fun

This was going great until I got to Rocky 07. I flew into the side of the mountain and never moved after that.

That's really weird ... I intentionally planned close approaches for effect, but have never hit a mountain with the version posted. I'd be interested in any theory that anyone has on why it works for me, but not for you. In any case, my suggestion is that you edit Rocky 07 and give it additional altitude. If that doesn't work, send me some email (sendtopaulx@gmail.com) and I'll be happy to edit the post. The cool stuff happens after Rocky 07 ;-)

This looks like a great location, but would be nice for a multiple-location flyover. For this, you just have to use numerous placemarks saved in a folder, each one moving along the canyon consecutively.
A single placemark is nice to pinpoint one place, but multiple should be used for maximum effect.

That's awesome, a really nice flyover there. You really show off the best of the rockies.

Something else you mentioned too is the need to play it through once first. It's one of the things I do find a bit disappointing with GE, where it will sometimes move to the next placemark before you've got enough visible detail.

I'd hope that in one of the next releases, they have an option to not move to the next placemark in a tour until all of the images have loaded. I've solved this problem partially by using multiple placemarks for one location, with a slightly different viewpoint on each, giving enough time to load all detail.

Maybe we can petition google for this feature?
