Who is Kara Mustafa Pasha?
Kara Mustafa Pasha was born in Marinca village nearby Merzifon in 1643. After his father's death in his early boyhood, he grew up with Fazil Ahmed under the protection of Koprulu Mehmed Pasha, who was also his father's close friend. He was well educated Then he became son-in-law to Koprulu Mehmed Pasha. Once Koprulu became the Grand Visier, he took Mustafa Pasha to Istanbul. In a while he was appointed as the head ruler to Diyarbekir at the age of 25. When Koprulu died, Fazil Ahmed Pasha became the grand vizier and Mustafa Pasha attended the Imperial Chancery of State with the rank of admiral. After four years he was promoted to the third rank of vizier. He was a well-known and influential administrator with his strong personality. When Ahmet Pasha died Mustafa Pasha became vizier instead of him. As a result of disagreement with he decided to besiege Vienna but the siege was failed which had started in 14th of July and ended 12th of September due to the faults of Grand Vizier and the betrayal of the Crimea Khan. Consequently, Kara Mustafa Pasha was executed.
