I am not posting anything special. Only Placemarks for some of the main points on the silk road. I hope there will be contributors to get this subject more interesting.

I've made an overlay of the region of the Silk Road. It is a fair fit - but could be improved with more effort. Anyway, it does show the region well, and the country those traders and explorers had to pass through.

Just adding that Urumqi is also the world's most 'inland' city. It's the furthest point from any ocean or sea.

Anyone besides me still interested in the Silk Road? I've been doing some research and have located few stops in the Taklamakan Desert. Still searching for more. Thanks for the overlay, ozlingula.

Hi nicolo,
Yes, sure. Please do not think no one is interested if there is even no reply.
Your work would be one great work and would certainly be desired and appreciated.

People still view this forum, like i am. I will be traveling the Silk Road in Q2 2009.

I was looking for some information on the web and found the GE maps from 'histfan' and 'ozlingula' interresting.

Can i contribute to this once i am / have been traveling the Silk Road ?
I will try to blog during my travel on http://weblog.kemper.nu/index.php?blog=8
