Thanks TheLedge...

I'm off for a hike at one of the beautiful state parks near my house...but when I get back in a few hours I'll make a horse and buggy collection

I looked at Lancaster, PA where the Amish are plentyful, but the area isn't hi-res yet, so I'll have to wait for that one

There's a bunch here.I think this might be where there going

This is a parking area used by the Amish buggies when they are visiting the Shipshewana Auction Barn. This is the large building next to the parking area. The photo must have been taken early in the spring. The large area to the south is the Shipshewana Flea Market. All summer the place is full of vendors on Tuesday and Wednesday. There are usually over 1000 vendors there. Some have permanent buildings; most do not. The rows are clearly visible here.

The buggies are a normal way of life in this area. They can be seen traveling throughout the day. There are usually a good number of Amish on bicycles also. The roads in the area are extra wide to allow the Amish to keep to the side and not obstruct the "English" traffic.

A nice area to visit but somewhat "touristy"

I have been a Google Earth user for quite a while but haven't explored the forums before. I am glad I saw the posts on the buggies. My wife is a real Amish buff.

Update 31 January 2009 - corrected Amish Acres link.

Heres a collection of 44 Amish transport sightings in and around Nappanee, Indiana. Yellow pins are on the move, blue pins are at home and green pins are shopping.

The red pin is a bit special:
