This collection of Airfield overlays includes aerial photos, plans and maps.

It is best used with TheMadscanner's collection of RAF Stations in Great Britain

Nice work!
I think Ridgewell Station (home of 381st USAAF Bomb Group) is missing. Here is an overlay for it.

Carmedic,
First let me say that was an outstanding effort! Really nice. Takes a lot of work to get things right. Super job!

Now, I have a question for you (or Rambo), I have an updated airfield diagram for Matching Green (its registered better with the terrain) and has some descriptive text. Also, I have place marks for some key landmarks (runway ends, control tower and aircraft parking). These are in a folder on my computer. How can I update/share/replace (?) the diagram that is already there with this information in my folder?

My interest in Matching Green stems from Dad's service during WW2. He was assigned to the 391st Bomb Gp (572nd Bomb Sq) which was based at Matching Green until moving forward to France/Belgium later in the war.

Thanks in advance for your assistance. Again, great job!

Hi satcom 15!
There are two options:
1./ (and fair) - post your stuff (overlay and placemarks in a kmz file) in this thread and carmedic can integrate this in his post and edit an update for it. He could let us know by another post in this thread when he has changed it.
2./ I assume you already downloaded carmedics stuff. So you implement your change in his file on your computer. If you like you can re-post this in this thread.

To decide betwen 1./ and 2./ just contact the author (carmedic) by pm and discuss this.
Cheers from rambo54

Rambo,
Thanks for the information. I just think what Carmedic (as well as Madscanner's original effort) did is super! I think I did this correctly. I saved the directory off as a .kmz file on my hard drive and am attaching here. Hopefully it works. If I did it wrong, suggestions are welcome. You'd think I could figure this out since I'm a geek - well OK its satellite communications engineering, not quite the same thing. LOL Thanks again for the assistance. BTW wanted to also compliment you on your posts in general. They are always interesting.

Carmedic,
Hopefully you can used the attached file in any future update.
Cheers

Guys,
Glad I could be of service and the effort is appreciated. :-) Hopefully there are others out there with similar overlays. BTW I obtained the airfield diagram from the 391st unit history maintained at the Air Force Historical Research Center Maxwell AFB, Montgomery AL. I'd like to get a higher res image at some point. And, if there are others out there that have or know of airfield diagrams not already shown by Carmedic, perhaps they could put a note on the board.

Cheers

Great work. Really interesting stuff.

BTW ... I hate to mention it, but I think RAF Membury is in the wrong place. The wrong Membury in fact. I think it should be by Membury services on the M4 in West Berkshire.

Best wishes

James

Hi James and welcome to the GE community

You are correct that I had place RAF Membury in the wrong location, many thanks for pointing it out to me.

The main file has been updated with the overlay in the correct place

all the best
