These are the plans, to date, for a long walking/hiking trail from Manhattan to Mt. Marcy. Comments and help welcome. Visit Hudson Trail Blog

These are the rough plans for the Hudson Trail: Manhattan to Mt. Marcy. The trail is divided into 4 main sections that we call treks. Each trek is divided into links/paths in the Google Earth data. The links contain notes on the trail.

We will be making changes to the Google Earth data as we refine the route, so keep checking.

We have been given permission by NYS to place markings on the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail in Westchester. We have altered the route to be mainly on the NYC Old Croton Aqueduct, with an alternate route in part of Van Cortlandt Park to get over the Deegan more efficiently. We still are in discussions on this.

We also have marked possible changes to the Trail. Feel free to comment.

The attachment indicates the status of the markings in the South trek: the Westchester/Bronx border to the outskirts of the city of Beacon.

light blue is marked

dark blue is permission granted, not yet marked

orange is proposed

purple is used for a mixed section involving existing trails (some even with blue blazes) for which we need to determine how the Hudson Trail is to be indicated

The NYS department of parks has given us permission to place markers on the 26mile stretch of the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail from the NYC border to the Croton Dam. We are in discussions with organizations in NYC for permission for the NYC Old Croton Aqueduct Trail.
