This looks like a great idea, but it's not working completely on my machine.
I can see the longitude and latitude grid, and placemarks for geographic features and craft landing sites. What I can't see is the actual surface of the planet. (Yes, I do have the "Mars Map" layer checked.)
I've double-checked my settings and searched the help pages, but I've had no luck. I'm using GE v. 4.0 for the Mac.
I've used NASAs Big Blue Marble overlay without a problem.
Any suggestions?

wound of most recent impact on Mars: A colorized view of a new crater on the upper north flank of the Martian volcano Ulysses Patera. Image credit: NASA/JPL/Malin Space Science Systems Full article: NASA overlay based on OP's KMZ. open it with their map enabled! BTW there is seem to be some problems with the grid or the placemark in the mirror of the coordinates from the article...

We've added your extremely nice geography and landing sites overlays to our own high res overlays on our site. Please let us know if you'd like your own authoring information added to the overlays, would like them to be modifed, or would like them removed from our site.
And, thank you!

Those images are from my site. If you want to see full resolution views, additional views of Gusev's horizon, and to read a summary of the latest rover findings, check out my site in it's entirety. Cheers, Aldo. http://www.marsgeo.com/

To All, The image in the overlay is a part of the Valles Marineris canyon system on Mars. The complete canyon system ( approx. 4000 km )would almost overlay the entire U.S.A. from east to west, when you want to make a tour trough the canyon in birdseye view, click on the following link ( 7 Mb ); video Valley MarinierisOr make a choice from this NASA webpage; web page For more info; web pageA nice picture of the canyon, Utrechter
