Another Spitfire in Southampton's Solent Sky museum

Supermarine 356 Spitfire F24 PK683

Absolutely stunning example of this late-model Spitfire on display in the city where Spitfires were designed and manufactured. Built for the Singapore Auxiliary Air Force, she was later on display in Singapore's Kallang Airport from 1954-1960. Then gate-gaurd at RAF Changi, Singapore from 1962-1970. She spent the 1970s in various English RAF bases. Since 1976 she's taken pride of place in Southampton's Solent Sky museum.

Hi Josie,

this is the home of Anthony Hodgson, it is a replica on display in his garden. His real one a Spitfire Tr9 PT462 (G-CTIX) is probably in the hanger just to the west of the replica, I last saw it flying about three years ago while out walking my dog on a hill nearby, the hairs on my neck stand up everytime I remember the sight of it flying low over that hilltop

Cheers

Carmedic
