Hi,

it is possible to setup a user/password proxy within earthGoogle ?
It seems that earthgoogle looks at IE setup .
But with IE LAN setup, these information (user/password for internet access) are not included into the LAN setup.

regards
Tuan

Nothing is showing up on my Google Maps Satellite either. Nothing has changed for about 5 hours. Also when I try an goto http://kh.google.com it says:

thanks for the help mightypete -- still no luck though

I deleted the host file - but I still can't get past the login error with GE. However I can use the maps.google.com link you gave me...it's good...but no substitute for the earth I'm looking for. hmmm..I spose that tells us that the problem is not my ability to see the maps..but more a communication error between programs such as google earth (firefox , camfrog, outlook express etc.) and my internet connection. Internet explorer is fine but other programs can't login to my DSL LAN connection...I have checked all the modem settings and connection settings..but can see no irregularities..I am almost resigned to my fate as a non google earth user!

thanks again mightypete

Well that test with the browser was just to see if you can connect to kh.google.com with a browser. You can do that so that's good. But now what's wrong? You have cable or dsl. You said dsl is that right? In you dsl log in and look to see if it is somehow keeping a dsl hosts list. If you have such a function turn it off and cancel that hosts file. It's like Google Earth is not getting the proper ip address for kh.google.com. I used to use a little program called CIP that would take all your bookmarks and dns look them up and saved that info in a custom HOSTS file on windows, Ip addresses changed and sometimes you would need to update that file for it to connect. This is almost like the same problem you are having. Google earth is looking to the wrong ip address for kh.google.com. Some routers also store such a host file. or dns lookup table.

I'm wondering do you have in your connection part of your router the dns part filled out with a number provided by your ISP or set to auto? I can't find that program CIP on the web no more.

Well then you got me. I don't know why you cannot connect. Everything I can think of you cannot fix on your end I don't think. There is not much left that you have not tried.

One of the Keyhole guys needs to look into this cause I'm out of ideas.

You realize you cannot connect to kh.google.com directly right? You must go to map.google.com and click the satellite image button. You have tried everything above? I see there is several people posting to this thread. You've checked online in IE? It would be almost impossible for me to explain to you how you could fix it, there is just so many things to check, I can't fix it at distance. I'd need to sit down in front of your computer. Things I'd still check if your running a firewall check and see if windows firewall is enabled too and if it is disable it. You don't need two running. Internet security settings in windows. You may have some setting wrong in there. There is a million more potential problem areas and one is borked.

Mighty_Pete,

At least in my case it was working fine for about an hour. It was connected and I was flying just fine, then it stopped as I was zooming in on a city and hadn't connected to the GE server since.

Now today, with out changing any settings, it started working fine. I am pretty sure this isa problem on the Google/Keyhole side of things, as it started and stopped without me doing a thing.

Kris
