I found this C-5 Flying over Moses Grant County International Airport in
Moses Lake, Washington, USA .
Enjoy it!!!

What I think They are practicing landings in a very narow "runway" or Taxyway. Check the taxiway ahead!!!
Some day flying over this field I saw 4 747s making touch and gos here.

NOTE
Thanks to psylant thay correct me this is a C-17!!!
Thanks

Excellent find!

Except this is actually a C-17. C-5's are slightly larger and don't have winglets.

Looks like they use that little runway a LOT!

Good find. There happens to be a lot of rubber on that end of that taxiway for some reason. The plane could be simply overflying and we are making the assumption it is going to land.

Yeah maybe but check the shadow, is too low for overflying dont you think soo?
Also Boeing use this airport for testing their aircrafts.
thanks

Which shadow are you referring to? The blue one preceding the plane? That is a sattelite image artifact for moving objects. The real shadow is 750 feet (not really, I know) to the north. Plane looks like it might be pretty high afterall.

It appears to me that he's offset from the runway... perhaps an airdrop?

I drew a measurement line through the runway to the plane, and he looks dead on to me.

As for previous queries regarding the aircraft's height and whether or not it's landing, see the attachment. The altitude was calculated by drawing a few triangles measuring the distance and azimuth of the shadow, as well as this page, Date: March 8 2004, State: Washington, Location: Moses Lake.
Sun's Azimuth: 158 degrees, so altitude is 36.3 degrees.

Shadow's distance from aircraft: 740 ft.

Therefore the aircraft's altitude is 544 ft, give or take a little. At just over a statute mile from the field, it looks like a pretty good glideslope.

Although it looks like a taxiway, it is in fact a runway , complete with run-up bays on either end.

Cheers.

If it helps this image was captured January 16th 2003 at exactly 10:18 am. Does that help. The plane and its shadow from 450 kilometers in space will be the same size as measured on the ground. So you can use the back shadow and the white plane and see how high it is.
Good luck

Great find! The C17 may be doing touch and gos or practice drops. There is a auxilery Air Base in North SC (yeah, North is the name of the place.)No high res photos there yet. C17s from Charleston AFB come up and practice their short field ops. I suspect thats' what they are doing. Scared the crap out of me first time I was driving past. all of a sudden a C17 comes over the tree tops. BAM! IT was kewl!javascript:void(0)
