New updates for 10am, Wednesday 14th September:

Katrina Damage Assessment 14Sep-10am KMZ file.

Katrina Damage Assessment 14Sep-10am KMZ file (floating polys for older graphics cards).

-----------------------------------------
Older data

Katrina Damage Assessment 12Sep-6pm KMZ file.

Katrina Damage Assessment 12Sep-6pm KMZ file (floating polys for older graphics cards).

Katrina Damage Assessment 11Sep-6pm KMZ file.

Katrina Damage Assessment 11Sep-6pm KMZ file (floating polys for older graphics cards).

Katrina Damage Assessment 09Sep-10am KMZ file

This data was made available to Google and we have been given permission to publish it for Google Earth users. It contains the damage assessment data that was used to create this document: http://www.gismaps.fema.gov/2005pages/dr1603.shtm

NOTE (as of Wednesday night):
NGA advises that they are beginning to map the receding floodwaters in New Orleans. This data set should represent the maximum flooding extent, but future data sets may show smaller flooded areas as the flooding is pumped out.

It includes:
- flood coverage
- damage areas by damage level
- road/rail/bridge outages

This is VERY useful data for displaced residents and emergency personnel.

Note, this file makes heavy use of "filled polygons". If your graphics card or driver is having problems with them (either not drawing or drawing "zingers"), try switching from OpenGL to Direct3D (or vice versa). Upgrading your graphics driver to most recent is always a good idea.

If that doesn't work, try this file: Katrina-damage-outages-09Sep-1000-floating.kmz
which avoids the use of clamped filled polygons. It may draw a bit slower, but is more likely to work on old cards.

Historical: Sep 5th/6th, 6pm data.

Katrina Damage Assessment 07Sep-6pm KMZ file
Katrina-damage-outages-07Sep-floating.kmz

Katrina Damage Assessment 06Sep-6pm KMZ file
katrinaDamageOutage-06Sep-floating.kmz

Katrina Damage Assessment 05Sep-6pm KMZ file (clamped filled polys)
DamageOutage-05Sep-1800-v3.kmz (floating polys, works better on some graphics cards)

Thanks, Jason. The version that was up initially was missing the damage layer. It should now be included.

mine is garbled. Looks like United Nations flags along the bottom when the 'location damage all' layer is on.

Thanks to everyone for this help.

Would FEMA give us these files for the last 7 days of Imagery Derived Assessment ?

8/30, 31,
9/1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 ?

Flooding could be tracked and people can see which areas are dry now, but took water earlier ?
