The first thing that is sure to impress a new member on GEC is the enormous amount of topics covered and information, of encyclopedic proportion, available on this forum.
I now tell friends that a "Google Search" on any topic will sure get you a result by atleast one GEC contributor.
Is there any other forum on the internet that contains so much qualitative info?
It is a pity that an internet forum has no exposure outside of the internet, for example, a reputed newspaper running a news item on a new and very relevant post just placed in the forum.
Moreover what , frankly, confounds me is, with this very voluminious and qualitative output on GEC, we continue remaining anonymous with one another; ofcourse, by providing a link to an email address in the profile, a member can try and find out who someone is...only just.

What is the future of GEC? 10/20/50 years from now ?
How will so many posts, running in their 1000s, even in the moderated sections be available for a member a decade from now..........most of the posts on subjects covered there will never loose relevance.
How about an archives system that keeps posts archived subject-wise, country-wise and year-wise?
