Hi Evert,
As a painter, one of the things that interests me about the satellite perspective is the complete elimination of the horizon line. The earth becomes flattened and patterned. I've now done several paintings inspired by Google Earth and each seems simultaneously abstract and representational. Thus far I have painted places that are in some way familiar to me. My last two paintings show massive clear-cuts up in Quebec--I have done a certain amount of bush work in places like these. With Google Earth you can quickly get a sense of the extent of this type of devastation.
It will be intriguing to see what other artists do with this incredible technology.
Cheers,
