Just in case, some of you are unaware - aerial/satellite photography as art has been around for a long time. The beautiful photography by Artus-Bertrand in his book "Earth From Above" is a great example. See the thread of GEC members who took his work and placemarked it in Google Earth for your viewing pleasure. And, the photographer himself liked this idea so much he hired the original poster who created a layer which is built in to Google Earth (read more at Googel Earth Blog - here and here) and the articles include a link to buy the book (a great coffee table sized book - and great conversation item).
