This is probably not the kind of info you are looking for. Its morbid, so you can delete if it is not appropriate. There's a bit of history about the Wave Pool at Carowinds, albeit tragic. The first or second year after the pool was built in the 1980s, a guest at the pool, a little girl, died from a gunshot wound while swimming. No one at the pool heard a shot, nor had a weapon. It was found, after an intensive investigation, that the bullet was actually fired from an AK-47--fired from a gun that two teenagers were using at target practice. Their home was over a mile from the pool. The high-powered stray bullet was discovered to have first traveled through the trunk of two trees before it lodged in the body of the victim. Proof of how powerful those rifles are. No wonder they are outlawed. The wave pool was closed for the season after that.
