Inspired by Google Earth: a new topic or forum?

Google Earth has inspired me as an artist to look for new ways of painting landscapes. In my latest paintings I'm trying to tell a story about a place and its significance for the way the planet works and what what that does to me. Google Earth is the inspiration for these new kinds of landscapes. For those interested: here's a link to my weblog

But I also know I'm not the only one. So far I've found several artists with more or less the same idea (you'll find links on my weblog). I'm convinced that this new art will grow and that the artists and those interested in art will be enthusiastic about a forum / topic that connects them. Until now these artists have been working more or less in isolation.

In many forums the word 'art' is frequently used to describe snapshots of Google Earth locations (KML reference). I don't know if you could call this art, but hey, fotography can be art so why not a particularly striking KML reference? It's an interesting and a good thread for the forum. Personally I'm more interested in the story behind the picture.

Google Earth is not just a high tech map or geographical mapping device. It is a powerfull new idea, a way of thinking which will have it's impact on the world. While the internet is a major force in connecting people, Google Earth is connecting us to our planet. A growing number of people are learning to look at our planet in a different way. We are finally beginning to understand how this planet is alive, how this living system works but also the damage we're doing to it. Anyone connected to the internet can go anywhere on the planet to see for themselves. And this is only the beginning.
I would be very interested in a forum that discusses these powerfull ideas and what they hold in store for us.

There's two topics here (1. GE inpired art and 2. GE inspired filo filosophy ). I propose they are both part of a new forum Inspired by GE. Is this a good idea?

Please reply!
