If you have arrived at this post in some other way than by a link from the parent post, The Fifty Three Stations of the Tōkaidō, you may wish to download it as well.

Appended to the parent post is a flight tour. This feature began as an attempt to create a tool to inspect the road paths for needed updates and corrections. It seemed to me that if offered yet another useful perspective on the material, so I included it with the post, but I was not satisfied that I had fully exploited Google Earths potential for presenting the material from the perspective of a fly-over tour.

Recently, as I was inspecting the road for new imagery and other things that wanted fixing, I realized that I was starting to forget which of Hiroshiges pictures were associated with which post towns. It occurred to me that if I would post the additional data in this forum, where it would not create clutter in the Google Earth Layers, I could make the images visible as the tour passed over them.

This improved tour features a smoother flight path with the ukiyo e floating above the post towns. It also includes a few labels (many of which are already posted in the Layers), including Edo Castle, the departure point for travelers on government business (like Hiroshige on his first trip) and Ni Jō Castle and the Imperial Palace, their most likely destinations, as well as features depicted in the prints or referred in the placemarks.

I like to take the tours with Geraldo64's brilliant F16 Cockpit Overlay, but I have slightly modified it (mostly to obscure less of the screen), and included it with this post.
