Thanks for your valuable suggestions! I've tried to understand what you did and at the same time I have tried to test the accuracy of the overlayed NASA map. I have used the coordinates table, rearranged them in Excel (see attachement which is actually an excel file > save it to the HD and change extension to .xls !!) and finally placed some on the map (for the umbral centre line). I have used a more detailed NASA map close to the max. eclipse and after some try and error the result looks not too bad. (you can download the results in my edited first posting)

Maybe there are possibilities to integrate the entire table with some import tool?
Then there should be a way to interconnect the coordinates with lines (is this only possible with paths in GE Plus)?
