The bus accident at Carrollton, Kentucky in 1988 was one of the most disastrous bus accidents in United States history. A drunk driver collided with a church bus, killing 27 people and injuring 34 of 67 on board. The initial crash was exacerbated by the bus catching fire and difficulties encountered by the occupants attempting to evactuate the crowded bus in the smoke and darkness.
