A 3 KM runway in the middle of nowhere

Well it is ex military and built for logistics and to enable the scramble of fighters to protect SA troops who were never really in Angola were they.

So why were they there ??????????????????

From Cubans and Russians never in Angola and Russian Flying Pigs (Hynd) that never flew.

I recall Good old USA wanting some mobile SAM sites and where better to get them than from Angola (Convenient Supermarket). But USA could not get involved so SA was given and incentive to get one or some.

So the really frustrating thing was SA was fighting someone elses war and it was all a cover up.

It was a game to some and many tragic losses re lives were experienced on both sides.

So did we come through for the USA ? funny you should ask we did but in a funny way.

SA military was a testing ground for USA in certain aspects.

Look north to find a small very short but tarred runway near a river in Angola and the towns name begins with X.
