Hi

The link above shows the position of 1628 stars in real-time (refreshed every 30s). Position means the location on Earth where a star is at the zenith (vertical of the place).

In the places panel, stars are grouped by constellation and ordered by descending magnitude.

You can check or uncheck the whole planetarium, a constellation or a star. For instance if you want to see only the stars of the Orion constellation, uncheck the planetarium then check only Orion.

If you click on a star, a bubble shows you the main characteristics of the star (cosntellation, magnitude, distance and spectral type).

In the main panel , some stars have a common name. When a star has a name , the "Learn" link is active in the bubble. Clicking on "Learn" displays a complete description of the star.

I also developped a "StarFinder compagnon" to locate easily a star in the sky (next post).

Tell me how it works.

Enjoy

Pierre

Notes :
I still have to verify the star positions according to sideral time.
Sometimes i experience a problem: the star icon is replaces by a garbage image. So far i have not found the reason.
The site of my provider seems a bit slow, so be patient to get connected.
