Kinlock Falls are a set of freshwater falls that can be found in the Bankhead National Forest, just northeast of Haleyville, Alabama, in the southwestern corner of Lawrence County. An old dirt county road leads to this secluded paradise. During the heat of the humid summer months, vehicles of all sorts can be found parked precariously on the edge of the roadway that sits beside a deep ravine where the falls lie. Natural and man-made paths have been trodden leading towards the waters below, where the temperature is always incredibly cold, yet just as refreshing. Some brave the deepest chill of the early months of the year to dip into the sub-freezing temperatures of the rushing water. The falls are smooth, and many people slide down them into the pool and cove below.
