The Dual Destiny Monument, in Double Springs, Alabama, lay in front of the Winston County Courthouse. During the Civil War, Winston County was known as 'The Free State of Winston.' It was not allied with the Confederate Army. The statue bears a soldier wearing half Confederate and half Union uniform, and both the Confederate Jack and American Flags fly behind him.
