Some of the placemarks in the Sundance 06 KMZ were orginally positioned by the address location function in Google Earth. I made a ground truth expedition to Park City to check them for accuracy, and found a few that were significantly off.

The same is true of the directions path originally created from the SLC airport to Park City: path alignments were wandering across the I-80 median.

It is easy to fix placemark locations, more tediuous to place paths in the proper lanes, but these are good things to do. Yes, many users don't care about that level of detail, but some do, and I believe in designing for the most discerning members of the audience.

Despite all that, now that the festival is in gear, I notice that a few shuttle routes differ slightly in how they approach and leave the Old Town Transit center. Ah well, I asked for an accuracy check from the Park City transportation department and never heard back from my three emails to them. At any rate, no one will be inconvenienced as a result.

So accuracy is one thing, perfection is another matter. "It takes a village to raise a child."
