This is a very odd thing indeed. This is the kingman reef, in the south Pacific, some 920 nautical miles from Hawaii. Looking it up on-line I found it's length to be 2 miles or so at it's longest point on CIA world Factbook and Wikipedia. However, the Google Earth Measurements came to 42.42 miles. Any idea why this is?
