thanks for replying. Can you add one more piece of information...

1) Download the latest version - "Help" menu then "Check for Updates Online".
2) Run the new version (3.1.617) and from the "Apple" menu, select "About Google Earth", please report the string alongside "Video Driver". It'll be something like:

ATi Rage 128 Pro OpenGL Engine (1.1 ATI-1.3.28)

Please be very careful with the spelling.
