May 2002 - Mallik 2L-38 - Hot Fluid Injection:
An excellent example of how production leads safety or environmental concerns:
text extracted from:
NUMERICALSTUDIES OF GAS PRODUCTION FROM SEVERAL CH4-HYDRATE ZONES AT THE MALLIKSITE 3.1.5
We investigated the injection of two hot fluids. The first was steam with a specific enthalpyof 3200 kJ/kg, i.e., with sufficiently high enthalpy to remain superheated steam at the injectionpressure.
(...)
The second hot fluidwas methane with a specific enthalpy equal to that of the steam. In this case, CH4 .....

Note that in this study
we did not address potential practical problems,or safety concerns, involved in the heating and injection of CH4, but
concentrated instead on the study of general strategies that can maximize production.*********
Hopefully another entity aside from the author was concentrating efforts for monitoring/collecting data for safety concerns.
