With the secession of Montenegro from Serbia the shrinkage of the country continues where the Southerner Hungarians have to live. They live in the territory of Vajdas�g (Vojdovina) in the northern part of Serbia which was part of Hungary before Trianon.

It is feasible that Kosovo will also depart from Serbia wich further narrows the country. While the Serb delegation negotiates about the autonomy of the Serbs living in Kosovo, the Southern-Serbian pre�evian, bujanovacian and medvedaian Albanians doing the same, utill there is nothing happens about the autonomy request of the Southerner Hungarians.

For memento: There are 100 000 Serbs living in Kosovo, in Southern-Serbia there are 100 000 Albanians. Both ethnical groups would like to have personal and territorial autonomy, and they have very good chances to get their request. It worths to the 2 million Albans living in Kosovo to give autonomy for a few Serb towns if they will get full independence in Kosovo.In the name of equality the 100 000 albanians will get the same autonomy in Southern-Serbia.
Anyway 100-100 thousand Serb and Alban may have autonomy while the 300 000 Hungarians living in Northern-Serbia waits for their bitter future without a strong representation of interest or help from the mother country.

2005 dec. 5. is a painful date for many Hungarians. On this date there was a vote on the question to give Hungarian citizenship to the Hungarians living outside of Hungary ( Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, Ukraina)( the territories of hystorical Hungary). The present Hungarian government (Hungarian Socialist Party) organized a media campaign in which they frightened the voters that the Hungarians outside Hungary will crowd in to the country and will occupy the hospitals and workplaces (they have odds because they know a foreign language at a vernacular level) etc. However Hungarians outside Hungary asseverated that citizenship would help them surviving in their homeland and they don't wish to leave. I have to add that Hungarians outside Hungary do not symphatizes with the Hungarian Socialist Party due to its inactive policy regarding their autonomy requests.
The vote failed.
The EU reacted to the result as Hungarians decided as Europians in a sensitive question since Romania, Serbia and Ukraina are not yet EU members.

The "funny" thing is if this vote would be after the system change in 1989
then the morale was so good that the vote would be succeded. It seems solidarity is out of the heart of Hungarians while they getting richer in the new system (it is also easier to manipulate them by media).

I would be honestly interested in everybodies (not only Hungarians) oppinion about this dec. 5. question.
