Not so simple as it seems Project documentation for this object is unavailable, initial drawings were lost. I reconstructed design and dimensions from photos. Model precision is about 0.1 m (I hope...)

It is an old Moscow radio and TV tower, built in 1919-1922 by famous russian engineer Vladimir Shukhov. Radio broadcasting from 1922, TV broadcasting from 1937. It was the main radio and TV tower of USSR till 1967, when Ostankino tower (540 m) was built. Still in operation. Usually called Shukhov tower or Shabolovka tower (by the place of location).

2006 picture and 3D model screenshots

Height is 160 m, weight is 240 tons. Each section is a hyperboloid of rotation. Built without crane. All sections were assembled on the earth one inside another (like matreshka) and then lifted one by one from the top of already installed part (like telescopic pipe).

Welcome to Moscow
