You've forgotten, curiosly, the word SOME in front of "Spanish Speakers". I am a native Spanish Speaker, and I completly disagree these political biased idea in Wikipedia.

I'm a professional Geologist. I want to focus this problem as a technical issue.

I have no problems with exonyms with historical tradition. But, for exemple, with Saint Joseph (for San Jose, USA), no. And what you are finding now in Google Earth is hundreds of Saint Joseph, with any kind of historical tradition, invented (as sounds) during Spanish Dictatorship. You would need to know some of Catalan and Spanish History on XX century to understand that. Toponym is not only a few of main cities.

However, toponym is always a complex problem. Catalan one, more. So, I think the approach I exposed is good. If you want some extra information about Catalan Toponym, put in contact with me by email (marcbel at softcatala dot org).
