I am not yet trying to view it by checking the box. I just load the file, it appears unchecked in 'temporary places', and then GE freezes.

I use GE 3.0.0762 with MSW XP pro 2002 SP2,
and the systems tells me there is no available GE upgrade, so it has to be the last version.

There have been lots of download but no complaints about it, does it crash only when you open this collection and not with any other collection? Maybe you have a slow PC (or slow hard disk plus lots of other apps eating RAM, and/or you have little amount of RAM) and when you download the placemarks, GE just opens them in temp places and quickly rotates the earth to the new view (which is on Northern Pakistan). That sudden jerk of GE's rotation sometimes causes it to crash if a lot of RAM is used in other application, or if you click somewhere while it's rotating the earth. Maybe you have a few other such heavy collections of placemarks selected already and that becomes too heavy for GE to rotate the earth while showing all those placemarks??
