Nice work, Trav
Do I take it (from the fact that your Network Layers refresh from a KML stored at a NOAA.GOV site), that the GE-implementation of this, is an 'official' NOAA undertaking?
If so - I would be very interested to have your input and suggestions on the network link I've made available
here which shows (at the moment) Coastal RIDGE Radars, Legends and Warnings overlays for the Gulf and Atlantic.
I'm very keen to limit (if possible) the load on both the NOAA servers, and mine, and thus any 'official input' (so-to-speak) might be beneficial. Similarly, I'm keen to avoid overlapping products which might affect the 'normal' delivery of these services via web, or result in pointless inefficient duplication of data that is principally from the same source.
I am told that the RIDGE radar network is different from the CONUS system (but being a Limey, all the way over the other side of the pond, I have no idea firsthand). I have no idea whether the warnings overlays are the same for both, either.
My ideal, would be to get the guys at NOAA/RIDGE to host the kml/kmz themselves (as you appear to have done already with the CONUS KML) - then it would save my humble home-based webserver from having to serve up the KML-encoded versions of the geo-location files to the rest of the GE-using population. But this may not be possible - or it may even be already planned - in which case I would love to know, so I can stop working on it, and do something else worthwhile instead! Likewise... they may not have thought of it yet... in which case, they're welcome to cherry-pick whatever they need or want from my KML, if its any use to them!
