If I ever have time to do that, then I probably will. As for the size, it seems about right to me, but my screen is running at a pretty high resolution. I guess if you are running at a lower resolution then it might take up more space.
Have you tried changing your icons size settings to small under the GE Options tab?

I just get data that are the same as on this page. The SPC's "hourly" means "updated hourly", not "the last hour's worth." Frequently, storm reports don't come in until a few hours after the fact, so packaging them as "the last hour" might not make a whole lot of sense, anyway.

As for lightning data, those are usually proprietary and you would have to go to a lighting data company such as Vaisala to request the data (costs $$$).
