The attached revised* 1.3mb file presents paths, placemarks, & photos documenting my 30 months of travel in South & Southeast Asia (using ground or water transport whenever feasible) during 2004-2007. For anyone planning to undertake some of these same journeys, following the paths should prove quite geo-informative; if you've already been there, zooming in to the streets, trails, & rivers in Google Earth can bring back a surprising number of memories.
The initially displayed OVERVIEW folder shows selected trip highlights; details are in the PLACES folder (view one or the other, but not both at the same time). Focus on this version is touring by double-clicking through the
icons in the PLACES subfolders: all entries there employ custom-snapshot views, and overnight entries are sequenced either geographically or in the order visited. See the readme pop-up in the root folder for viewing tips, and be sure to click on the placemarks for photos.
Had no GPS during my travels nor conception then of eventually creating this presentation; all coordinates and paths were looked up afterward and entered manually in G-Earth. The vast majority of placemarks and paths should be quite accurate, including transport arrival/departure points in the larger cities. All overnight stops, intercity transport paths, and the longer of day trips are documented. An image overlay of an Angkor temples map is included.
