Australias cities score highest points in Economist Global Survey

In its annual global survey rating the worlds best cities, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has ranked five of Australias state capital cities in the top ten. Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney all scored high points in the survey, which rates 130 of the worlds largest cities.

The survey regarded by many as the benchmark in city rankings uses a rating system of one to five points in twelve categories where scoring one point would mean no hardship in a given category. The categories include housing, education, recreational activities, health, climate and terrorism. The survey aims to determine which cities are the best for expatriates to live in.

Melbourne ranked number one in the survey as it received the top rating possible in every category. Perth came in fourth with Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney all sharing the sixth place.
