City of London, Animated Timeline 1956-2010 - 1MB

Google Earth v4.0.2091 or later required

This is a first attempt at applying Timespan tags to my City of London model. A timeline of the 80 tallest structures built (and demolished) in the City from the 1950s onwards.

To avoid buildings suddenly popping into and out of existence when the file is played, I've animated their construction, by gradually scaling them upwards to full height over a period of 2 years.



Instructions

Minimize the range of the time slider.


Then toggle-on the 'Animated' folder.


To see the model at various points in time, either hit play (to the right of the time slider), or drag the time slider by its base.

The animation speed can be varied via the time slider option settings.


Note: there's some slight flickering on the first complete run through of the animation. This disappears on subsequent viewings.
