With a quick look around our Earth we can find many glaciers. Some are retreating, some advancing and some maintaining a steady state. Most however are retreating. You can pretty much discern which glaciers are retreating or advancing by the way they look.

This glacier is advancing. Notice the white ice lobes at the front. The glacier is clearly moving into new territory



These glaciers are retreating, the telltale signs are dirty melting snow mixed with debris and a lack of recent movement. These glaciers look stranded and left to melt.



Don't believe it? Here is some proof, the high res image in the foreground is more recent that the older low res image behind the terminus. The front of the glacier is now a lake!
