Repaired Map November 11, 2007

This map is brought to you as one of a series of projects undertaken by the Canadian Expeditionary Force Study Group (CEFSG), an international team of more than 700 enthusiasts who are involved in the research of Canada's role in the Great War 1914-1919.

This map should be used in conjunction with Chapter III of Nicholson's text:

Nicholson Chapter III: The Battle of Ypres, 1915

Nicholson, G. W. L. (Colonel). 1962. Official History of the Canadian Army in the First World War: Canadian Expeditionary Force, 1914-1919. Queen's Printer and Controller of Stationary, Ottawa, Ontario Canada.

The Canadian 1st Division entered the line in the late winter 1915, at the Belgian town of Ypres. The Germans had been attempting to break the deadlock in Flanders, as they battled the Belgian and British forces along the Allied Lines. It was here at Ypres that the Germans first used chlorine gas in April 1915.
