After the French Revolution (17891799) enlighted principles of nationalism, citizenship, and inalienable rights were spread across Europe. Every folk rediscovered its own language and begun to separate from each other. The Nobel class was begun to dissolve.
With the fall of the interwoven European aristocratic class the cultural connection between the different folks of Europe was weakened as well.

The nation of historical Hungary consisted of several folks: Slovaks, Germans, Croatians, Serbs, Romanians, Hungarians and many others. This fact alone testifies that for the heart of the Hungarian people ethnic problems were unknown. Did you know that the freedom of conscious and religious toleration was proclaimed first in the World at the Diet of Torda (in 1568) in Hungary?
The French Revolution changed all folks in Europe and not just the Hungarians. The result was two World Wars and for us: the folks living in Historical Hungary (Uhorsko) ceased to be live as one nation. Don't take it as an offense when we rejoice in our nations history. It is our common history. I encourage you to continue what you are doing and build as many quality threads about Slovakia as far your time lets you. We are here and greatly interested about your culture.

I believe that the Karpathian-basin is a functional self-supporting unit. This self-supporting was destroyed when hatred was planted between the different folks. Today we have to import goods from around the Globe which makes both of our folks weak. It is a great business for Global trade but neither a benefit for Slovaks nor for Hungarians. Importing goods from distant locations is harmful for the environment as well.
If we tie stronger the linkages in our cultures and we tie stronger our economy both Slovaks and Hungarians will live their days in better manners in a self-supporting region. It is sooo easy to plant hatred and disturb our efforts. A few slaps blown by media power is enough. Lets do for it together and change the life quality in the Karpathian-basin! It is simple but hard.
