Thirteen key points in the life and strange disappearance 40 years ago of Bangkok-based American businessman Jim Thompson, whose former job with the spook-ridden Office of Strategic Services (OSS) may or may not have had something to do with it.

March 21, 2006, would have been Thompson's 100th birthday, and March 26, 2007, is the 40th anniversary of the day he went missing in the Malaysian jungle.

The many theories about what happened to this enigmatic man are discussed in a pair of books, William Warren's 1970 "The Legendary American: The Remarkable Career and Strange Disappearance of Jim Thompson" and Edward Roy De Souza's much more recent "Solved! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, the Legendary Thai Silk King". The latter is excerpted online at the broadly informative Cameron-Highland-Destination.com.
