Does that mean the "classic" V-1000 "Griffon" as seen on many illustrations and also on "wonderland" website were actually never deployed but the later S-200 instead?
The missile both "wonderland" and FAS calls V-1000 is the 5V11 of the "Dal" system, NATO reporting name "GRIFFON". This was a long range anti-aircraft missile system and not an ABM. I believe it was never deployed for real, other than experimental / testing deployment. The "real" V-1000 was the missile in the "System A" experimental ABM system that was tested on the Sary Shagan range and intercepted a real ballistic missile on March 4 1961. This system was only experimental and was used to gain experience in intercepting ballistic targets. This missile was given the NATO reporting name "GAFFER".

(both in Russian but the pictures are universal :-) )
